Usain Bolt spoke to the press on Monday and spoke so fervently about Manchester United that you couldn’t be faulted for thinking he’s their coach.
“We looked impressive. You know what I mean? From the start we played good, we attacked a lot more than we normally do throughout the season, so I was very impressed. All of the players played well. I can’t really find anything bad to say about the team today. There were a lot of stand-outs. Lukaku played well, Rashford stepped up, and Matic was really good in the middle, so yeah, that kind of helped my day today.”
There will be an eternal battle in sports fandom about whether it’s OK to use the pronoun “we” when discussing your favorite team. Personally, I don’t have a dog in the fight — include yourself or don’t, I don’t mind.
That said, it is amazing to hear Bolt talk like this — because he seriously seems like Manchester United’s coach, which would be pretty great.
