Costa Rica trailed Honduras in the 95th minute of its World Cup qualifying match on Saturday before Kendall Waston came up with a dramatic equalizer, leveling the match at 1-1. That tie was good enough to qualify Los Ticos for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Here’s what that moment sounded like on Costa Rican TV.

In contrast to that expression of joy, look at the reactions of the Honduran players — they’re absolutely devastated. Los Catrachos were seconds from jumping ahead of Panama and getting themselves into position to potentially make the World Cup. Now, the Hondurans will need to better Panama’s result on Tuesday to get into CONCACAF’s top four and qualify for an intercontinental playoff against Australia or Syria.
Costa Rica is already joined by Mexico as CONCACAF representatives in Russia, and thanks to this result, the United States is all but in as well.
