Wayne Rooney keeps making the same Manchester City fans miserable

Five years later, the same City fans in the same seats are furious about a Rooney goal.

Wayne Rooney has gotten off to a fantastic start in his second stint with his boyhood club, Everton, scoring in back-to-back games to open the Premier League season. His goal against Manchester City on Monday was his 200th in the league, making him just the second player to reach that milestone.

Rooney has a long history of terrorizing City, the crosstown rivals of his long-time team, Manchester United. As @Mirallas pointed out, quite a few City fans have the same season tickets as they’ve had for a long time, and were caught having the same reactions on Monday as they did to a Rooney goal against City five years ago, during a 3-2 win for the Red Devils.

Throughout his career, Rooney has made a habit of coming up with his biggest moments against City. His 200th goal wasn’t his first big milestone strike against the Citizens.

And of course, Rooney’s most famous goal came in a Manchester Derby. City was the team on the other end of the bicycle kick that is arguably the most famous goal in Premier League history.

Wayne Rooney may be past his prime, but it seems that he’ll never stop finding ways to make Manchester City fans miserable.
