Antonio Conte has called on the Chelsea fans to "push" the team to victory against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Premier League champions host leaders City at Stamford Bridge just days after coming from behind to secure a last-gasp 2-1 Champions League victory away to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

City, meanwhile, oversaw a 2-0 home win against Shakhtar Donetsk a day earlier although they will not have star striker Sergio Aguero nor defender Benjamin Mendy available for the trip to London on Saturday evening.

Conte labelled Guardiola "the best" manager in football while previewing the game between the Blues and City and, while admitting City will not be such an easy prospect this weekend, the Chelsea boss said his players were full of confidence following their win against Atletico.

He told reporters at Cobham: "I have great respect for Pep. I think he's the best and I have great respect for him, for his work. I like to watch his games. Pep is a really good coach and I follow his game.

"We know very well his team. The team likes to have possession of the ball and likes to dominate the game. They try and create many chances to score.

"He tries to create a squad with a lot of technical and creative players. As you know very well, Manchester City are a really good team, but also last season it was the same. And then this season they improved a lot with good signings in the transfer market.

"They started very well and are in a great moment, and have a lot of confidence. For sure we have to pay great attention tomorrow. But I think we prepared the game in only one day – today – and we tried to prepare in the right way. It will not be easy against Manchester City."

Conte then added: "To win this type of game [against Atletico] makes you stronger. But, now, it's important to be focused on the next game against Manchester City.

"We have to pay great attention because now they're in an important moment and have a lot of confidence. But we are playing at home. For sure, our fans try to push us from the start until the end. Tomorrow I think their support will be very important."
