David Luiz will return to Chelsea's squad for the trip to West Brom on Saturday, coach Antonio Conte has confirmed.

Despite being one of Chelsea's first-choice central defenders, Luiz was surprisingly dropped from Conte's squad that faced Manchester United before the international break.

It is believed the Brazilian was omitted for the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge after questioning Conte's tactics in the 3-0 Champions League loss away to Roma in October.

Luiz was not called up to the Brazil squad for their games against Japan and England and, as a result, stayed behind at Cobham to train during the international break - where he is thought to have impressed Conte.

His attitude has resulted in Conte confirming that Luiz will be recalled to the Italian's matchday squad as Chelsea take on West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

The Chelsea boss told reporters on Friday: "Yes, he is in the squad."

However, Conte will not have striker Michy Batshuayi available for the game because of a foot injury while Charly Musonda is out with a knee issue.

"Batshuayi had a problem in his ankle then Musonda has a problem in his knee. About [Victor] Moses he is progressing well and I hope to see him back next week," Conte added.

Gary Cahill, who missed England's friendly against Brazil on Tuesday with a back injury, is fit again.

Danny Drinkwater, meanwhile, is not expected to feature against West Brom after taking a knock to his calf in the 1-0 win over Manchester United and only returning to full training this week.
