Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has revealed his surprise at the “dangerous” refereeing in the Premier League.

The Gunners’ record signing has seemingly settled quickly into English football, scoring four goals in four appearances at the Emirates and earning praise from his manager Arsene Wenger for the burgeoning partnership he is developing with Alexis Sanchez.

But the physicality of the league remains a cause for concern for Lacazette, though he admits it is down to him to adapt to the nature of English football.

“The refereeing decisions [still surprise me],” he said. “Sometimes I think it is a bit dangerous.

“But then I see that nobody is shocked, so I tell myself it must be normal.”

A £52.7million signing from Lyon this summer, Lacazette’s arrival was dominated by questions over whether he had the attributes to shine outside the French league.

But the 26-year-old could not be accused of not swatting up in an attempt to smooth a transition that he already seems to be well on the way to making.

“I have not totally adapted yet, there are things that still surprise me, but I am trying,” Lacazette said. “I’ve watched quite a few matches to understand English football.

“I watch quite a lot of my matches with Arsenal and when I look back and see what I didn’t do right, I try to learn from it, which hopefully facilitates my progression.”
