Alexandre Lacazette's first double in English football continued Arsenal's excellent Premier League home form as they beat West Brom 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

On an evening when Alexis Sanchez, widely expected to leave at the season's end when his contract expires, made his first league start since his attempt to join rivals Manchester City, the striker continued to justify his club-record transfer fee.

Spoiling the occasion of Gareth Barry's record 633rd Premier League appearance, his two goals also ensured a continuation of Arsenal's 100 per cent record at the Emirates so far this season and wider run of eight consecutive home league wins.

A very generous round of applause for Kieran Gibbs as he makes his return to the Emirates. And record-breaking Gareth Barry also gets a warm welcome.

Some intriguing comments from Arsene Wenger ahead of kick-off in his programme notes today, where he discussed the Premier League's decision to close the transfer window before the season begins.

Fair to say he's not a fan of the current system:

What happens now is that you’re contacted 48 hours before the end of the transfer window and someone say, ‘Are you still interested in this player?’

"You worked on that deal for three months, they closed the door and then suddenly they open it up again with two days to go. It’s all rushed decisions and very hectic in the last week."

Well, well, well. After pulling the trick of benching a superstar last time out against Chelsea Arsene Wenger repeats the trick today. There'll be no Ozil from the off, even though he is recovered from the knee inflammation that ruled him out of the trip to Chelsea. Sanchez is back in a reshuffled front three, with Ramsey likely pushed further forward.
