Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is ready to “break the bank” to make Josh Onomah’s loan move from Tottenham a permanent deal.

Onomah has been a regular in Bruce’s side, missing only two of Villa’s 13 Championship games this season, scoring two goals.

The 20-year-old was among the stand-out performers on Saturday as Villa secured a 2-1 win over promotion rivals Fulham, a match in which former Chelsea captain John Terry scored his first goal for his new team.

“Josh Onomah was terrific today,” Bruce told reporters after his side’s win at Villa Park. “We’ll try to break the bank for him!

“But we know Spurs have got a very good player there.”

Onomah was allowed to leave Spurs despite having made 32 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, with Mauricio Pochettino opting to allow the England youth international to leave despite usually opting to retain his brightest stars around the first-team squad.
