West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has recalled Manuel Lanzini to his matchday squad as the Hammers go in search of their first points of the season at Newcastle this afternoon.

Both have had to battle back from pre-season injury problems and, while they are not ready to return to the starting XI, Bilic will be delighted to have them back, having had more than his fair share of injuries to deal with already this season.

Lanizini was key for the Croatian’s side last term, especially in the wake of Dimitri Payet’s January departure, and Bilic will be hoping his involvement can kick-start their season.

The hosts, who themselves are also without a point so far this term, have named this XI to take on the east Londoners:

Elliot, Manquillo, Lascelles, Clark, Mbemba, Merino, Hayden, Atsu, Perez, Ritchie, Joselu.

Subs: Murphy, Diame, Aarons, Saivet, Jesus Gamez, Woodman, Mitrovic.

While Bilic, who remains without Andy Carrol and Winston Reid, has named this team:

Hart, Zabaleta, Collins, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Rice, Noble, Antonio, Ayew, Fernandes, Hernandez.

Subs: Fonte, Kouyate, Lanzini, Adrian, Obiang, Sakho, Masuaku.
