Chelsea target Cedric Soares has revealed that he is happy at Southampton as deadline day closes in.

The Southampton defender was one of a number of players the Premier League champions were considering as an option to bolster their ranks in the right wing-back position, with Victor Moses currently without serious competition.

However the Portuguese international, who was part of the squad which won Euro 2016, has said that, despite the speculation, he is happy on the south coast.

“I have a contract with Southampton and I am working every day like I always do. I am professional,” he told the Daily Echo.

“Of course a player likes to know some big teams are interested in us and it’s normal. We work every day.

“I have a contract. I am focussed and what happens will happen.

The Blues, though, are closing in on a deal for Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who Antonio Conte sees as an option at right wing-back despite his desire to play in midfield.
