Chelsea have turned attentions to Inter Milan’s Antonio Candreva and Bayern Munich veteran Rafinha after missing out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Conte is desperately looking to buy a wing back after the Arsenal man snubbed a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of more central-midfield opportunities with Liverpool.

Southampton star Cedric Soares is Conte's preferred alternative but Saints have insisted it will take a silly offer to acquire the 25-year-old on deadline day.

Chelsea were only prepared to pay between £15-20million for the Portugal international but Southampton value him in excess of £30m, especially after Kyle Walker’s £50m transfer from Tottenham to Manchester City.

A number of loan deals of Chelsea youngsters elsewhere are being held up while the club pursue targets.

Conte doesn’t want any more junior players to leave beforehand in case he is left with a small squad.

That means that Fikayo Tomori, Kenedy and Charly Musonda may still be a part of the first team squad this term.

However, striker Loic Remy is about to secure a permanent move to Las Palmas.
