Chelsea vs Everton: How Wayne Rooney can hurt the Blues at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea returned to winning ways on Sunday after securing a 2-1 win over rivals Tottenham, but the champions will face another big test of their title credentials this weekend when big-spending Everton come to Stamford Bridge.

The Toffees have splashed the cash to bolster their squad this summer - which has included re-signing Wayne Rooney.

The striker left Goodison Park for Manchester United 13 years ago, where he went on to become the club's all-time leading goalscorer and last weekend scored his 200th Premier League goal.

Now back at Everton, Rooney has started the campaign in fine form with two goals in two matches, which will no doubt make him a threat against Chelsea.

But Blues fans will not have forgotten the last time these two sides met in west London, with Chelsea storming to a 5-0 win on Bonfire night last November.

Yet, Everton appear a different proposition this time around, with Ronald Koeman bringing a seemingly rejuvenated Rooney with him to London on Sunday.
