Antonio Conte has admitted he will have to prepare for Chelsea's game against Liverpool on the Blues' flight back to London from Baku on Wednesday night.

Chelsea made their longest-ever trip in the Champions League on Monday afternoon when they travelled to the Azerbaijani capital of Baku ahead of their Group C clash with Qarabag two days later.

Thibaut Courtois admitted that the Chelsea players were sticking to English time in Baku, which is four hours ahead of the UK, in order to minimise any side effects of making the 2,500 mile-trip because of their upcoming Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.

Chelsea arrive back in London from Baku early on Thursday morning before having a recovery session later the same day, training on Friday and then travelling up to Liverpool.

And Conte admitted that with the time between Chelsea's games against Qarabag and Liverpool short, he will have to prepare for the clash at Anfield on the flight from Baku to London - though he has already started doing some work with his coaching staff before now.

"I watched the game [Liverpool's 3-3 draw away to Sevilla]. Liverpool played a really good first half with great intensity.

"But as you know very well, football is strange. What happened in the second half is very difficult to explain. Liverpool in the second half had opportunities to score other goals. They were also unlucky.

"It’s important to prepare for the game and for us to try and play a really good game. We know very well what are the qualities of Liverpool.

"We have to work during the flight to prepare for the game, but to be honest we started [preparing] with my staff before tonight so as not to wait until at the last moment."
