This season is the time for Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen to take a step up and help Spurs to the Premier League title, according to former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
The four-time Premier League winner, now CEO at former club Ajax, thinks that after a couple of years of settling in the top flight, now is the time for Eriksen to make the step to the next level.
“Yeah I think he should do [make the step up],” said Van der Sar.
“He had three or four years with Ajax and did fantastic and then at Tottenham he took a year, two years to adapt a little bit.
“Now you see his assists his goals – also for Denmark in the last two games he created goals.
“It is probably the right time next year for him to hopefully get a step up, or Tottenham are making their way up – they finished second now and maybe they can have the next step to win the league.”
The Danish international has started the new season well, with three assists in three games, and will be looking to get Spurs back to winning ways with three points at Everton on Saturday.
