David Moyes has expressed his interest in taking over at West Ham as Slaven Bilic awaits news of his fate.

Bilic will learn his fate at a meeting with David Gold and David Sullivan on Monday morning with West Ham prepared to replace their struggling manager.

Standard Sport revealed today that the co-owner’s reluctance to change manager’s mid-season has changed in light of Saturday’s 4-1 humbling at home to Liverpool, a result which left West Ham only a point above the relegation zone.

Moyes is the overwhelming favourite with bookmakers to take the job, priced at 1/5 with Betfair and with his nearest rival Alan Pardew at 9/1.

Whilst the former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland boss insists he has not held talks with the West Ham hierarchy over taking the London Stadium hotseat but made clear his eagerness to take over should Bilic depart.

“I'm interested, yes,” he told Bein Sport. “I've had no contact from West Ham but I've always said I want to go back into club management.

“If the right opportunity comes around I'd be interested.”

Moyes offered his sympathy to Bilic though the incumbent West Ham boss likely would not welcome a fellow manager touting for his job.

“For me to get back in it means another manager is going to have to lose their job and I wouldn't wish that on anybody,” he said.

“He [Bilic] must be hating it and wanting to get a result as soon as he can. So if it becomes available, yes, but at the moment it's not available.”

Moyes has been out of work since May, when he resigned as Sunderland manager following their relegation from the Premier League.

Last month Bilic had been given two games to save his job following another embarrassing home defeat, 3-0 to newly-promoted Brighton. West Ham beat Tottenham in the EFL Cup but threw away a two goal lead in drawing at Crystal Palace.

Saturday’s defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side led to renewed questions about Bilic’s future, with the Hammers boss admitting he would have to “take the bullets” for his side’s poor performances.
