Rays of Sunshine ambassador and Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli seriously ill children a ‘day to remember’ after visiting a London hospital.

An activity day at Evelina London Children’s Hospital saw the 21-year-old playmaker build bears, decorate biscuits and colour in decorations for the children’s bedsides.

Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity grants the wishes of seriously ill children in the UK aged three to 18 by organising outings, large scale events or arranging for them to meet their heroes.

Alli was announced ambassador for the charity in February and met 17-year-old Billy and 16-year-old Luke, who are living with Hypertension and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy respectively.

Both are huge football fans and were stunned to see the England star turn up at their ward.

Billy said: “I recognised Dele Alli straight away and was completely shocked. I’m a huge footy fan and have seen him play at my local football club, Middlesbrough.

“Dele made a pink cat and named it after his brother, Harry, then gave it to me to give to my mum for her birthday! It was nice to spend a bit of time off the ward and take my mind off things, it’s an afternoon I’ll always remember.”

The event was held to celebrate National Play in Hospitals Week and was organised by the charity to take the children’s minds off the ward.

Commenting on the successful day, Alli said: “I had a great afternoon with Rays of Sunshine at their Activity Day at Evelina London Children’s Hospital. It was a pleasure to meet such amazing families and children.”

Alli has scored 30 goals in 77 appearances and is now considered one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most valued players.

The young hopeful is reportedly being watched by La Liga champs Real Madrid who have targeted Alli as their next major signing.
