The former England boss will hold his first press conference this afternoon since succeeding Frank de Boer on Tuesday.

ARSENAL CHARGE

Arsenal are facing a fine of up to £7,000 after Uefa charged the club for blocking stairways in the away section of Emirates Stadium.

Cologne face four separate charges of crowd disturbances, setting off fireworks, throwing of objects and acts of damage.

INTERVIEW

Ahead of the mammoth clash between Chelsea and Arsenal on Sunday, Standard Sport's Simon Johnson caught up with Sky Sport pundit, and former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher for his take on the match.

And the conversation soon turned to a player who most certainly won't be involved on Sunday....

Here's what he said...

“Arsenal haven’t improved at the back since last season. If you want to be successful, you have to have a strong defensive unit. But that’s what has let Arsenal down.

“Arsenal conceded 44 goals last season and that is far too many. You must aim to concede less than a goal a game, then that gives you a chance to challenge for the title.

“Just look at the last three champions: Chelsea last season (33 goals against), Leicester (36) and Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2015 (32).

“This is why I was very surprised Arsenal didn’t bring another centre-back in, especially as they are going to play three at the back a lot more.

“Arsenal and Chelsea wanted to sign Van Dijk and the £60-£70million fee talked about was an awful lot and shows there is a dearth of centre-backs. If you want a player of that quality, you have to pay it. If you don’t, maybe you don’t achieve the targets you have set for the club.

“Southampton didn’t sell Van Dijk, but Chelsea still went and brought in Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen [back from loan] and added to what they had.”

First up today, it's our weekly column from West Ham boss Slaven Bilic!

'I am confident Andy Carroll will stay fit for a long period'

Andy Carroll is back fit, in our first team and no one, apart from Andy himself, is happier than me about that. Everyone who was at the London Stadium on Monday night to see us notch our first Premier League win on our home turf, plus many more watching on television, will have seen what a difference he makes to us.

Inevitably, though, the questions have come thick and fast. “How can you keep him fit? What are you doing to keep him fit? Have you a special training regime for him?”

They are all questions I have been asked many times about Andy. The answers are probably very similar and this time, as before, we hope he can stay fit for a long period for us.
