Fenerbahce have confirmed a deal has been agreed in principle to loan Vincent Janssen from Tottenham.

Attentions turned to Janssen, who was made available by Spurs during the summer transfer window with Brighton failing to secure a loan move on deadline day and Lille revealing this week they turned down the chance to sign the Dutchman.

Following Fernando Llorente's £12million arrival from Swansea City, Janssen was the only fit first-team players not included in Tottenham's Champions League squad for the group stage.

Mauricio Pochettino insisted on Thursday that Janssen has a future at Spurs, but appears to be on his way to Fenerbahce in what is expected to be a season-long loan deal.

A club statement read: "Our club, in principle, has agreed with the player himself and his club on the loaning of Dutch national team striker Vincent Janssen from Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur.

"The 23-year-old striker will arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 12:30 today [Friday, September 8] and negotiations will continue in Istanbul."

Janssen will link up with fellow Dutchman Robin van Persie and former Spurs striker Roberto Soldado, while Spurs have previously loaned former striker Sergei Rebrov to the Turkish side back in 2002.
