Fernando Llorente is confident Tottenham can win silverware this season but concedes there is still work for his new team to do.

The 32-year-old, who has won a World Cup, a European Championship and three Serie A titles – amongst other honours – during his career, was brought in by Mauricio Pochettino on deadline day to add some winning experience.

After making his Premier League debut for Spurs against his former club Swansea in their 0-0 draw on Saturday, the former Juventus man said that this side are one of the best in the league and capable of winning silverware this season.

"I am very happy to come here,” he said. "I think Spurs are one of the best in the Premier [League]. "I think we can get a lot of [trophies] this year but we have to improve, we have to work hard. The [league] is long.”

If Spurs are to challenge for the title once again, turning around their league form at Wembley is a must.

After three league games played under the arch, Pochettino’s side have just two points to their name - from frustrating draws against Burnley and Swansea and a loss to champions Chelsea.

German giants Borussia Dortmund were beaten in the Champions League in midweek but Llorente admits the team must improve.

He added: “Winning at Wembley is very important. In the beginning, we find some difficulties but we have to continue to work.

"On Wednesday we played a very good match and this is the way [forward]."
