Gary Cahill has urged his Chelsea teammates to "calm down" because there is everything still left to play in the Premier League title race.

Antonio Conte's side came into their game against in-form Watford on Saturday desperate to avoid suffering their fourth defeat of the season - and third straight loss following on from defeats to Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

Despite seeing the Hornets come from behind to lead 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea scored three times to secure a thrilling 4-2 victory that keeps them within nine points of leaders City.

And Cahill believes that the champions need to remain calm even though they sit in fourth place in the Premier League table because, as demonstrated last season, the team have previously reduced a large deficit to win the title.

"You've got to remember we are in the middle of October, there's loads of games to play," the Chelsea captain said. said.

"Last season we were eight points behind Man City and we managed to claw it back. I'm not saying it is going to happen but we need to calm down."
