London striking duo Harry Kane and Alvaro Morata are among the seven nominees for September’s Premier League player of the month.

Tottenham’s Kane and Chelsea record signing Alvaro Morata join Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne, Brighton playmaker Pascal Gross, Newcastle centre-back Jamal Lascelles and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku among the nominees.

Kane enjoyed one of the best months of any English player in recent memory, scoring 13 goals in all competitions for Tottenham and England. Six of those came in the Premier League, including a decisive brace in the 3-2 London derby win over West Ham.

Morata has also hit the ground running at Chelsea and sits alongside Aguero and Kane with six goals in the golden boot race, one behind early pace-setter Lukaku.

Lascelles may have fewer goals to his name but the Newcastle captain has been crucial in the Magpies climb up the table, with Rafael Benitez’s side briefly having occupied a Champions League place.

Meanwhile Gross has weighed in with two goals and two assists for Brighton this month, netting a brace in the Seagulls’ first top-flight win for 34 years, a 3-1 home victory over West Brom.

City playmaker De Bruyne appears to have emerged among the early frontrunners for Player of the Year and proved to be the difference maker in his side's 1-0 win at Chelsea last month.
