Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Harry Kane as “one of the best strikers in the world” and says that the Champions League will help him earn the credit he deserves.

The England international, who bagged a brace as Spurs ended their winless Wembley run with an impressive victory over Borussia Dortmund in their Group H opener, has started the season well with six goals in his last four games for club and country.

Speaking after the win at Wembley, the Spurs boss said: “I think he was fantastic [against Borussia Dortmund], you can see today.

“To score goals in Champions League he will receive the credit he deserves.

“For me he is one of the best strikers in the world, that is no doubt for me but through the Champions League, the most important competition in the world, I think will give him the credit is deserved.”

Both Pochettino and Kane will be hoping the 24-year-old keeps up his scoring touch in September as they look for their first Premier League win at the national stadium against Swansea on Saturday.
