Alexandre Lacazette has been ruled out of Saturday's visit of Manchester United after picking up an injury during Arsenal's 5-0 win over Huddersfield.

The France striker was withdrawn at half-time on Wednesday evening, having scored the opener, with what Wenger subsequently revealed was a groin injury.

Wenger said that Lacazette would “certainly” be unavailable.

Lacazette’s absence leaves Wenger with a major selection headache, particularly with the 26-year-old having built a formidable understanding with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Since his club record £53million arrival from Lyon in the summer Lacazette has notched up six goals in 13 Premier League appearances.

Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck will likely vie to take on the central striking role for the visit of Jose Mourinho’s side to Old Trafford, though Wenger could opt to move Sanchez to a central role.

United are facing an injury blow of their own ahead of the Saturday evening game, with Nemanja Matic forced off during Tuesday's 4-2 win at Watford.
