Jack Wilshere hasn’t ruled Arsenal out of the Premier League title race despite Manchester City dominating the early season.

The 25-year-old Arsenal playmaker admits the Gunners have a long way to go but is still optimistic that Arsenal could take home a trophy at the end of the season.

“We’re still only in November, we have to keep working hard, keep plugging away, picking up points at home,” he said at the premiere of 89 on Wednesday night.

“You know, our home form is tremendous, away form needs to improve a bit but we’re going to be fighting to win the league ultimately, we don’t feel it’s over.”

Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League, 12 points below Manchester City who are sitting comfortably at the top and still remain unbeaten this season.

“[Manchester] City are doing really well at the moment, they’ve set the benchmark.

“We know it’s a tough league with high quality in it and City are top at the moment, but we’ve got to keep working hard.”

The midfielder is yet to start a Premier League match this term and was overlooked for England’s upcoming international friendlies against Brazil and Germany because of lack of game time.

Wilshere is approaching the final six months of his deal at the Emirates but told Standard Sport today that he wants to sign an extension.
