Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier says summer signing Serge Aurier is a "character" and has settled in well at Wembley.

The Ivory Coast international, brought in as competition for Trippier after the departure of Kyle Walker to Manchester City, impressed during his debut against Borussia Dortmund in midweek.

Trippier started on Saturday as Spurs drew 0-0 with Swansea on Saturday with Aurier coming on late and seeing a strong appeal for a penalty turned down in an effective cameo, referee Mike Dean wrongly awarding a free-kick for handball against the former PSG man.

Speaking after the game, Tripper praised his new team-mate: “He’s a good player, a powerful, funny lad, his English is OK.

“But no, he’s a great signing for us with [Davinson] Sanchez as well, with Juan [Foyth] and [Fernando] Llorente as well.

“They are good signings, it’s good competition for everybody in the team.

“[Serge] has got pace, power. He has got good delivery on him as well. I think he has settled in nice and easily as well.

“He is a character, he has a bit of banter about him playing all of his French music and stuff and he’s settled in.”

With Barnsley at Wembley in the League Cup up next for Tottenham, it is expected that Aurier will make a return to the starting line-up when they travel to London rivals West Ham in the Premier League next Saturday.
