Cristiano Ronaldo has regained top form and is ready to punish Tottenham on Tuesday night, Real Madrid team-mate Isco has warned.

The world player of the year was without a goal in La Liga this season until he found the target in Madrid’s 2-1 win at local rivals Getafe at the weekend, having been banned for the first four weeks of the Liga season.

Ronaldo has prolific in the Champions League, with four goals to his name already this term – one fewer than Spurs striker Harry Kane – and Isco expects the Portuguese to be decisive against Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

The Spain playmaker said: “It was only a matter of time. He is a killer. It’s true he hadn’t scored many goals in the league so far this season but in the Champions League he has. It is very good for us that he is off the mark in the league because we need him.

“This team has no limits. We want more titles. As soon as we have our whole team available, we will see a stronger Real Madrid.”

Madrid are the Champions League holders and have won the title in three of the last four seasons. They are favourites to progress to the second-round stage from their group, but Spurs are in a similarly strong position after winning each of their opening two matches.

Isco added: “The Champions League is special. This is a good chance to consolidate our position as leaders against very difficult opponents, who are doing really well.”
