Ander Herrera has hailed Manchester United team-mate Marcos Rojo as one of the “top five” central defenders in the world.

Rojo was a regular in the United side during the second half of last season before he was sidelined with a knee ligament injury.

The 27-year-old is set to make his second Premier League start in seven months when United face Arsenal on Saturday, after playing in the 4-2 victory against Watford on Tuesday night.

Herrera, whose side have the best defensive record in the Premier League this season, said: “When he got injured, I told him he was in the top five central defenders in the world as his play was outstanding and he was in amazing form.

“I felt so sorry for him because he got injured in what was the best moment of his career.”
