Mauricio Pellegrino has warned Arsenal to expect a tough game when they visit Southampton.

The Gunners head to St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday looking to take advantage of Chelsea’s defeat to West Ham, whilst also re-establish their three-point lead over rivals Tottenham, who beat Stoke 5-1 on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger’s side have a mixed record on the south coast. Having visited twice last season, winning on both occasions the Premier League and FA Cup, tides have turned a little after 13 years without a win at Southampton.

However, Pellegrino has warned the north Londoners that despite his side’s testing schedule, they’ll be in for a tough test against the Saints.

“Our preparations [for Arsenal] have been good, it’s been a good week because we felt last week we changed five or six players and most of them have had opportunities,” Pellegrino told the club’s website.

“This week with Arsenal, and games against Leicester and Chelsea as well it’s another difficult week but I feel we have enough of a squad to compete well.

“We know that Arsenal is a top team, but I feel that it will be a difficult game for them too.”
