'No way': West Ham cannot afford to be complacent after Tottenham win, says Slaven Bilic

Slaven Bilic says there is no room for complacency as his West Ham side take on Crystal Palace having bounced back from two goals down to beat Tottenham on Wednesday.

The Hammers second half performance at Wembley, when a brace from Andre Ayew and a winner from Angelo Ogbonna knocked rivals Spurs out the EFL Cup, was easily their best of the season so far.

In stark contrast to that their last Premier League outing, home defeat to Brighton, was their worst showing of the campaign.

With that in mind, Bilic knows there can be complacency against a struggling Palace side, who lost 4-1 to Bristol City in the EFL Cup during the week.

“No way [can we be complacent],” Bilic told reporters.

“I said after the game [against Tottenham] we will not get good performances by default.

“We know where we are and that we have to build on that performance, repeat it, make it better, cut out the mistakes.

“We can’t get too above ourselves. We can’t allow that, it will be too dangerous.”

A win for the Hammers on Saturday morning could put them three points clear of the relegation zone come Monday morning, though a victory for Roy Hodgson’s side will not be enough to move from bottom of the table.
