Paul Pogba has applauded Manchester United's decision to sign Nemanja Matic as he feels the former Chelsea player makes him more comfortable on the pitch.

Matic left Chelsea for a second time at the end of July to be reunited with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, with Antonio Conte hinting in the days afterwards at unhappiness at the move.

The two-time Premier League winner has impressed in the short time since joining, with his league debut coming in a 4-0 win against West Ham in which Pogba scored.

"Against West Ham, Matic was starting behind and I could worry more about attacking. I feel good playing that way, but it depends on what the manager wants,” he told reporters.

"I’m always confident. I always give my best and I know more about the Premier League and I’ve adapted more with the team.

"When you know the team more, you know how to play alongside them. You get on better. You just get a different feeling.

"You could see against West Ham, everybody was getting along well and playing for each other."
