Tottenham have confirmed that Anthony Georgiou has signed a new deal with the club.

Georgiou, 20, has signed a contract with the club until 2020 after making his senior debut earlier this season in Spurs' 3-0 Champions League win at Apoel Nicosia in September.

The Lewisham-born midfielder is a Cyrpriot youth international, and impressed on Spurs' pre-season tour of the USA, with fans praising his performance after coming off the bench against Roma in July.

Georgiou has been a development squad regular for Spurs, with four Under-23 starts this season.

Mauricio Pochettino rewarded the youngster's rise through the ranks with a Champions League outing against Apoel, where he came on for the last six minutes to see out a comfortable victory.

Georgiou revealed his delight at making his competitive Spurs debut via Twitter, writing: "Dream come true last night making my debut in the champions league (...) also to win and do it in Cyprus (...) was very special (...) ️amazing experience".

Georgiou spoke of the valuable experience of working alongside Harry Kane last month, marking the striker's route from Spurs' academy to double Golden Boot winner as an inspiration for the club's young hopefuls.

"Harry Kane is an unbelievable player," he said in October.

"His finishing is incredible and you know as soon as he gets a chance he’s going to score.
