Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrasss on a season-long loan.

The Scotland international, who joined the Hammers from Hull City in January, struggled to make an impact under Slaven Bilic and has found himself surplus to requirements at the London Stadium.

The former Leeds United man, who failed to score in any of his 15 appearances for West Ham, told Villa’s media team that he wants to help get them back to the Premier League.

“I have had offers from other clubs but it was an easy decision to come here,” Snodgrass told Villa's official website.

“You see the name Aston Villa with all its history, tradition, fanbase and it’s a place you want to come to. Seeing it in the Championship doesn’t look right.

“I want to be part of that journey back up to the Premier League. I am raring to go.”

Villa manager Steve Bruce, who worked with the 29-year-old at Hull, has the option to sign the playmaker on a permanent deal should his season on loan go well.
