Manchester United’s Legends were thankful for their first-leg win over their Barcelona counterparts as the star-studded sides played out a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, making it 5-3 to United over the two legs.

Both sides used the occasion to pay tribute to victims of the terror attacks in both cities with a tribute ahead of kick-off and black armbands worn by both sides.

Both Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton watched on as the Red Devils squandered a 2-0 half-time lead with an early Ruud van Nistelrooy penalty handing the hosts the lead before Danny Webber made it two just before the break.

The Catalonian’s, who had seen Edgar Davids and Luis Garcia squander chances in the first half, fought back after the interval.

Garcia, making up for his first half miss, tapped home after Simao Sabrosa’s effort came back off the post.

Three minutes later and the Spanish legends were level in Manchester as Gaizka Mendieta rounded Raimond van der Gouw to slot home past Edwin van der Sar.
