Harry Kane was a 'monster' for Tottenham as they thrashed Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley on Sunday, according to Heung-min Son.

Kane capitalised on another defensive horror show from Liverpool by scoring twice and setting up Son for another to earn an important Premier League win for Spurs.

Dejan Lovren was substituted after just 31 minutes at Wembley but he was not the only one guilty of kamikaze defending, with Simon Mignolet and Joel Matip both major contributors to Spurs' goal flurry.

Kane and Son took full advantage with an early double before Mohamed Salah pulled one back for Liverpool. Dele Alli and Kane, however, struck either side of half-time to put the result beyond doubt.

Son and Kane spoke to Sky Sports after the game, with the South Korean forward saying: "We deserved to win, the early goal was very important from this monster (Kane).

"We have to just keep thinking positive like we did today. We worked really hard every home game to get three points."

Kane was delighted with the win after a week in which Spurs earned a creditable Champions League draw away to holders Real Madrid.

Asked about the performance following a draining match in Madrid, Kane said: "Unbelievable, we wanted to start fast and get the crowd on their feet - that's exactly what we did.

"I thought we played really well. Their goal came against the run of play. We were pushing and could have got the third or fourth goal early on."
