Tottenham have been in contact with Everton today as they discuss a deal for Ross Barkley.

Chelsea have already offered £25million for the England midfielder, who has been a target for Spurs since last winter.

Tottenham had been weighing up whether to move in this window for Barkley, who is out injured for at least two months due to a damaged hamstring.

Whoever signs him would not be able to count on him immediately but Barkley is admired by Mauricio Pochettino.

There has also been late interest from Arsenal in the player who is valued at around the £30m mark by Everton.

Tottenham have boosted their ranks with the arrival of Serge Aurier in a deal worth £23million as Kyle Walker's replacement, while centre-back Juan Foyth joined on Wednesday.

There remain question marks over Vincent Janssen's future with Spurs attempting to beat Chelsea to the signing of fellow striker Fernado Llorente.
