Tottenham must be 'a bit scrappy' to land first Wembley win, says Ben Davies

Tottenham defender Ben Davies has called on his Spurs teammates to be more ‘streetwise’ as they continue to hunt for their first home win of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who dropped just the four points at White Hart Lane in the 2016/17 season, have already dropped five under the arch at Wembley so far this campaign losing to Chelsea before drawing with Burnley, suffering at the hands of late goals on both occasions.

“It’s disappointing to concede late in the game,” said Davies.

“We should have managed the game better, we need to learn our lessons quickly.

“We need to be a bit more streetwise at times and slow the game down. It’s not always about going for the second goal, we need to slow it down and go for the corners a bit more.

“It’s not always possible to play the perfect game, sometimes you have to be a bit scrappy.

“We play football the right way and always will do. But the last five minutes of games we just need to manage it better and go a bit long sometimes.”

Tottenham next play at Wembley when they host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in mid-September, before Swansea are the visitors in the Premier League three days later.
