Christian Eriksen has said he is not fazed if the Republic of Ireland try to man-mark him on Saturday’s clash World Cup play-off clash against Denmark.

The Tottenham star, unsurprisingly dubbed Denmark’s ‘danger man’, is expected to be closely watched during the World Cup qualifiers against Ireland.

But the midfielder said he is not bothered if Martin O’Neill’s men decide to man-mark him because it will create more space for his Denmark teammates.

“I’ve been man-marked a few times in my career,” said the Tottenham playmaker.

“I don’t know if Ireland will do it – I don’t really mind if they do. It creates more space for other players.

“With the quality we have I think we could take advantage of that.”

The 25-year-old is poised to keep the Ireland side on their toes after he netted goals in each of Denmark’s last four qualifiers.

While O’Neill’s side have conceded just six goals in their 10 qualifiers and have kept clean sheets in their last two games.

But Eriksen has said Denmark should be patient if they want to break down their side in the first leg of their World Cup play-off in Copenhagen.

“We’ll go out and do our thing,” he continued. “If they put people behind the ball, like in previous games, we’ll need to play quick and open up the game.

“If you have a team that wants to play and one that doesn’t, the game may be dragged out. 0-0 is probably a good result for them.

“We want to score and create chances. We’ll probably get fewer chances than in other games.”
