Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been nominated for the 2017 Ballon d'Or after carrying his impressive goalscoring form into the new campaign.

Kane is one of 15 players to have been named on the shortlist so far and joins Philippe Coutinho, N'Golo Kante , David de Gea and Kevin De Bruyne as the Premier League representatives.

The 23-year-old won a second successive Premier League Golden Boot in May after 29 top flight goals and has already hit 84 league goals in his career. The Spurs man scored 13 for club and country in September after a barren August, and has scored two further goals for the Three Lions since the turn of the month.

"I want to be in that world-class bracket"' said Kane in June. "I am not there yet. Part of it is proving that on an international stage.

"Club level, I have had a good few seasons but to take that next step it is international football — in the big games, in big moments. I am 23 and hopefully have quite a few years ahead of me to learn and get better."
