Liverpool have made a £55.5million bid for Arsenal target Thomas Lemar, according to reports.
It comes after Arsene Wenger last week admitted defeat in pursuit of the Monaco star, declaring the deal "dead".
Wenger, who has had two offers for the France international rejected this summer, said “[A deal for Lemar] is dead because Monaco has closed the door."
If Liverpool now agree a transfer with Monaco for the France international it will only further distress a frustrated Arsenal fanbase after a difficult start to the season.
Wenger is prioritising trimming the squad over the coming days, with Lucas Perez, Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Debuchy among those expected to leave.
Meanwhile, Tottenham and Chelsea are expected to add to their squads before Thursday's transfer deadline, while Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer is targeting "quality additions" after a difficult start to life in the Premier League.
Slaven Bilic has conceded that West Ham have had a difficult start, but says fans can only expect a maximum of one new face. Asked about the possibility of solving West Ham's problems in the market, Bilic said: "It wasn’t because of one player – we didn’t look good as a team.”
