Watford sign Marvin Zeegelaar from Sporting Lisbon on four-year contract

Watford have confirmed the signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Marvin Zeegelaar on a four-year contract.

Hornets coach Marco Silva has been busy in the summer transfer window, with Zeegelaar joining Will Hughes, Tom Cleverley, Nathaniel Chalobah, Kiko Femenia, Sam Howes, Daniel Bachmann, Richarlison, Andre Gray, Andre Carrillo and Orestis Karnezis at Vicarage Road.

A statement on the Hornets' official website read: "Watford FC is delighted to confirm the signing of defender Marvin Zeegelaar from Sporting Lisbon on a four-year deal.

"The left-back made 37 appearances for the 18-time Portuguese champions during 2016-17, including five in the Uefa Champions League.

"The Dutchman, who came through the ranks at Ajax Amsterdam, will wear the number 22 shirt for the Hornets."
