West Ham can follow Tottenham model for Liverpool visit, says Slaven Bilic

Slaven Bilic says West Ham can learn from London rivals Tottenham when they take on Liverpool at London Stadium this weekend.

After Wilfried Zaha’s gutting 97th-minute equaliser last weekend, Bilic knows he and his side need to pick up points this weekend in order to protect his role and lighten the mood in Stratford.

While the Reds possess a frightening forward line, the Hammers boss feels his Tottenham counterpart, Mauricio Pochettino, perfectly exposed the Achilles heel in Saturday's opponents.

Spurs made easy work of Jurgen Klopp’s side with a 4-1 win at Wembley 11 days ago and Bilic says they exposed a weakness which his team are capable of exploiting.

“They have their objectives, they are not very happy with their position or the press is not very happy or the fans, whoever," Bilic told reporters.

“But of course they are very good team, they play offensive football and it leaves them a little bit open at the back, that some teams like Spurs grab that chance and we analyse them and, it is not only Spurs that exploited that chance.

“So when we play them we have to be very solid because attacking-wise they are creating chances, using spaces. If you are open they are destroying you and things like that, they have that pace and that quality up front or on the flanks.

“But of course, when you take the ball, if you have a good transition and players in the right positions in the right moments and in good form you can hurt them.”
