Jack Wilshere will make his first Premier League start for Arsenal in 577 days after being named in Arsene Wenger’s side to face West Ham at the London Stadium.

The 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, has not featured from the off in the top flight since May 15, 2016, when the Gunners won 4-0 against Aston Villa.

Indeed that was Wilshere’s first Premier League start for Arsenal in nearly a year but the playmaker will be hopeful that he will not have to wait another 12 months after recovering his form and fitness in the Europa League.

Olivier Giroud has also been handed a rare outing with Alexandre Lacazette on the bench, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Alex Iwobi also start.
