What went wrong for Slaven Bilic and where next for West Ham?

Slaven Bilic's time at West Ham came to an early end on Monday after as he was sacked by the club following the Hammers' drop into the relegation zone.

Saturday evening's 4-1 loss to Liverpool at the London Stadium left the club with just nine points after 11 games, prompting co-owner David Sullivan to relieve Bilic of his duties on Monday morning.

Many have tried to explain why Bilic failed to replicate or better West Ham his first term in charge, which saw the club finish seventh in their final season at the Boleyn Ground.

The subsequent move to the London Stadium is often being used as a big reason as to why the Hammers struggled both this term and last, while transfer business and the performance of new players has also been cited as problematic.

Standard Sport's West Ham correspondent, Ken Dyer, sits down to explain just what went wrong for Bilic this season and how the players can try and get an instant improvement in results in the coming weeks.
