Manchester City will face FC Basel in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s side went into Monday’s draw in Nyon knowing that, having won Group F, would draw one of FC Basel, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Sevilla, FC Porto or Real Madrid.

City were handed what many would consider a favourable draw against Manchester United's group opponents Basel, although the Swiss side shocked Jose Mourinho's Red Devils with a 1-0 home win in gameweek five.

The first legs of the Round of 16 will begin in February, week commencing Monday 12th, with the final match day on Wednesday February 21.

The second legs will then take place at fortnight after, with the match day on Wednesday March 14.

The draw for the quarter-finals will then be held on Friday March 16th.

How Manchester City reached the last 16

City looked on course to getting a 100 per cent win record in the group stages after enjoying a superb Group F campaign.

Guardiola's side opened up with a 4-0 victory away to Dutch club Feyenoord in Rotterdam, which equalled the club's biggest win in the Champions League.

City then secured back-to-back home wins over Shakhtar Donetsk and Napoli before booking their place in the round of 16 with a 4-2 victory away to the Italian side in early November.

The win meant City remained unbeaten in all competitions this season and, after Raheem Sterling's goal at the Etihad Stadium sealed a 1-0 home victory over Feyenoord, Guardiola's side appeared to be on course to ending Group F with a flawless 100 per cent win record.

But the runaway Premier League leaders suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away to Shakhtar in December, which ensured the Ukrainian side clinched second place in the group as City finished top with 15 points.
