Jose Mourinho has insisted he didn't have a problem with Antonio Conte not shaking his hand after Chelsea's win over Manchester United on Sunday, saying he did his "duty" by shaking hands with the Italian's brother and backroom staff.

Mourinho and Conte, who twice last season clashed at Stamford Bridge, shook hands before Chelsea's game with United but failed to do so after the match, which the Blues won 1-0.

Conte was seen going onto the pitch to talk to the referee as Mourinho was left on the touchline to shake hands with the Chelsea manager's brother Gianluca, who is Chelsea's assistant first-team coach.

After the game, Mourinho laughed off questions about why he could not shake hands with Conte - asking journalists whether they had wanted him to "chase" the Chelsea manager onto the pitch in order to do so.

"You want me to go and chase him in the middle of the pitch? I was there. I shook hands with the people who were there," Mourinho said.

"I think one of them was his brother, the assistant, so I feel that by shaking the hands of his brother and the other assistants that I did my duty. I cannot go and run to chase him. "

When then asked whether Conte should have waited for him in the tunnel, Mourinho replied: "Why should I wait? He doesn't have to wait. There is no problem with it at all. You are always worried with these things... no problem."

Conte, meanwhile, insisted that shaking Mourinho's hand twice before the final whistle was enough for him.

He said: "I think at the end of the match I went to shake the hand of the referee, the linesmen and then my players. I think that shaking the hands two times is enough."
