Football transfer rumours: Celtic's Moussa Dembélé to Manchester United?

Today’s tell-all stayed up too late watching cricket

After providing the assist for all seven of PSG’s goals by opening the scoring for Celtic in the first minute at Parc des Princes last night, Moussa Dembélé is today being linked with a move to Manchester United. After scoring 32 goals in 48 games last season, the 21-year-old was courted by West Ham, Arsenal and Chelsea, among others, but remained at Celtic Park for this season’s Champions League campaign. L’Equipe report that the France U-21 international has already begun talks with United with a view to moving to Old Trafford next summer. Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is resigned to losing Dembélé and the striker is likely to have no shortage of suitors.

The French sports daily also claim that PSG have offered Manchester United totem pole Marouane Fellaini a four-year deal and say Liverpool are interested in rescuing Julian Draxler from his Parisian purgatory in January. The 24-year-old has struggled for game time with the Ligue 1 leaders since they signed Kylian Mbappé and Neymar in the summer and may miss out on a spot in Germany’s World Cup squad if he doesn’t secure a move elsewhere.

Closer to home, the Mirror reports that PSG will move for Alexis Sánchez in January, but will have to fend off competition from Real Madrid and Manchester City to get a playmaker they really, really don’t need on board. City are also hitching their skirts at Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez, who is also wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea. Ahmed Musa and Leonardo Ulloa could also be headed for the Leicester City door marked “do one”.

Internazionale midfielder João Mário has fallen out of favour at the San Siro and could be sold to Arsenal in January. The Portuguese midfielder has dropped down the Inter pecking order since his £40m move from Sporting 18 months ago and has a fan in Arsène Wenger, who could sign him for as “little” as £25m in January. Mário is seen a potential replacement for Mesut Özil, who could be on his way to Barcelona.

To the managerial merry-go-round, where Alan Pardew looks set to benefit from West Brom’s stunning lack of imagination when it comes to replacing Tony Pulis, while Hull City are ready to part company with Leonid Slutsky. Meanwhile on Merseyside, Everton are ready to abandon their attempts to poach Marco Silva from Watford and will instead make doe eyes at RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick.
