Juan Mata sends message to Chelsea fans ahead of Man United clash

The Manchester United midfielder insists the Red Devils aren't thinking about revenge ahead of their trip to Chelsea

Juan Mata has insisted Manchester United isn’t thinking about getting revenge at Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

The defending Premier League champions were 4-0 winners against Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils side at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Chelsea eased to a commanding win thanks to goals from Gary Cahill, N’Golo Kante, Pedro and Eden Hazard in the landslide win.

Manchester United manager Mourinho and their number eight Mata have ties to Stamford Bridge following decorated spells at the west London club.

Antonio Conte’s side lost 3-0 to Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League in the Italian capital on Wednesday night.

Manchester United, on the other hand, were 2-0 winners against Benfica having eased to a 1-0 victory over title rivals Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Mata rubbished the suggestion that Manchester United are out to get revenge against the title holders at Stamford Bridge.

“No, there’s not revenge on my mind. (They are) totally different games, what happened last season, happened last season and now we have to think in the present,” Mata told Sky Sports.

“We have to rest after today and from Thursday we have to start to think about the game. It’s always a difficult game playing Chelsea away but we will try our best.

“It’s always difficult to play against the top teams, but those are the games you want to play, me included.

“There is a lot of pressure around the game but obviously we will try to play our best football and try to win and come back to Manchester with three points. It’ll be tough but we’ll try.”

Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after finishing seven points clear of their closest challengers Tottenham.
