David De Gea sends Man United warning to Man City: We’re really confident now

The Man United goalkeeper issues a warning to Premier League leaders Manchester City

David De Gea has warned Manchester City that Manchester United are “really confident” ahead of next weekend’s derby following a 3-1 win at Arsenal on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils have managed to respond from a 1-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Chelsea with four successive top-flight victories to put pressure on Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho’s made the trip to the English capital looking to end Arsenal’s 13-game Premier League winning streak at The Emirates.

Manchester United made the breakthrough in the fourth minute through Antonio Valencia before England midfielder Jesse Lingard doubled the visitors’ lead seven minutes later.

France striker Alexandre Lacazette halved the deficit early in the second half before Lingard restored Manchester United’s two-goal cushion before Paul Pogba’s sending off.

De Gea produced a record-equalling 14 saves to deny Arsenal any more goals in what was an impressive win for the Red Devils at the home of their bitter rivals.

Manchester United moved to within five points of Premier League leaders Manchester City ahead of their home clash against West Ham on Sunday evening.

And Manchester United number one De Gea warned Pep Guardiola’s side that the Red Devils are full of confidence ahead of next Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford.

“We’re really happy,” De Gea told Man United’s website.

“I think they were both very tough games away from home so we now have confidence to play the last Champions League group game and after that, the derby.

“We’re really confident now, we score many goals and this is the key as we look forward to the next game.”
