Manchester City transfer news: Kelechi Iheanacho expected to join Leicester in £20m deal within a week

Whizkid was left out of the squad for US tour to complete move but talks have taken longer than predicted

LEICESTER are still confident of landing Kelechi Iheanacho in a £20million deal despite an unexpected delay.

The Manchester City whizkid was left out of the squad for the US tour so he could complete his move to the Foxes.

But Nigeria striker Iheanacho, 20, has still not agreed terms as his team-mates return to England.

Guardiola believes the youngster will move to the Foxes but kept the door open for him to stay at the club if a move falls through.

He said: "I think Kelechi leaves us in favour of Leicester. I think so, but I do not want to say anything wrong either.

"We will see. If that does not happen, he will be part of the group."

Foxes chief Craig Shakespeare was asked about the deal last week and insisted he remained positive despite operating in a difficult market.

He said: "I'm hoping so, but I am like every other manager at the moment. I think we all find it frustrating but it is the current market.

"You saw with the Harry Maguire one, we got that done quick - when he is in the door we can announce it."

Any deal will include a buy-back clause, however, as Guardiola is well aware of the youngster's immense potential.
