Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino promises fans Spurs will sign players before the window closes

It has been quiet at White Hart Lane but Argie chief insists sealing deals at the end of the summer was always the plan

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has urged Tottenham fans to be patient - insisting he always planed to make late signings.

The Spurs chief has yet to make a splash in the transfer market this summer despite netting a £50million windfall from selling Kyle Walker.

But Poch insists he will be bringing in some new faces as he bids to go one better after finishing third and second in the league.

NOT PICKED YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM YET? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

He said: “We need players who can challenge our starting XI, players who believe in themselves and think ‘OK, I can challenge Dele Alli, I can challenge Harry Kane.

“We need to bring new energy and strengthen our squad, everyone knows that.

"If you look at the history of Tottenham in the last few years, we always spend at the end of the window.

“Chairman Daniel Levy is working hard with the chief scout [Steve Hitchen], we are working hard to deliver and try to add the strength we need to fight in four competitions next season.

"The market is a little bit crazy but you cannot stop the evolution of football.

"It is not easy to improve, but we will find the right players to challenge.”

Right-back is a particular priority for Spurs, who will be without Kieran Trippier for the first two weeks of the season.

That leaves Kyle Walker-Peters as the only fit fight-back at White Hart Lane.

But Poch would also like a striker to push Karry Kane and could use more depth in attacking midfield.
